   FROM: Barstow - north/eastbound on Hwy 15 measured from the "East Main
   St." exit - go 36 miles

   Get off at the Afton Rd exit

   Turn left (west), going over the fwy overpass 0.1 mile

   Turn left (south/west) on paved road with a "no outlet" sign

   (This road will become dirt after a while)

   Stay on this road (as it wines) for 3.4 miles

   Look for road (dirt) on the right (north/west) side, and go 0.3 mile to
   access the lakebed
